Casa HAZP (2011) by Frederico Zanelato Arquitetos situated in Sao Paulo, Brazil | The Hardt
Casa HAZP (2011) by Frederico Zanelato Arquitetos situated in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The sloping terrain, with a forest of native trees in the background, defined the occupation first in a block, of two pavements, preserving the greatest quantity of possible species. And in a future stage, the expansion, with the construction of another block at the bottom of the lot, dedicated to the children. For the first stage, the intimate area was defined on the ground floor and on the lower floor the social area, with access to the forest.
The program for this residence, located in a gated community, in the municipality of Mogi das Cruzes, caters to an architect, his wife, and son. We thought of the construction in stages, as the family grew, and in the sustainability of its use. The volume of the house opens to the landscape of the back, and its posterior closing is given by a composition of materials, wood, and glass, maintaining the transparency for the visuals. In the façade facing the street, a less leaky closure was used, in masonry and glass, reserving the intimacy of the dormitories. In both facades, one can perceive the portico formed by the eaves in balance and the great lateral gables.
Two elements in apparent tapered concrete stand out from the main volume of the house: the entry box on the ground floor, accessed by a ramp, and the dining room box on the lower floor. For the second stage, the dormitory block is independent, and its connection to the main body is made by a wooden walkway without interfering with the natural terrain. Located in an area with native vegetation, it was envisaged to implement measures that reduce the impact on the local ecosystem and at the same time provide a pleasant and healthy environment for new residents. The openings in the house favor cross ventilation.
The forest at the back of the terrain is preserved, keeping the temperature mild, creating shady areas and protecting the construction of direct winds and solar rays. The rainwater is stored in its own reservoir and reused for the care of the gardens and cleaning of external areas. As the condominium does not have a sewage collection network, it goes through a treatment system in the lot itself. It is possible to conceive an integrated environment between built space and green spaces, with sustainability and the lowest environmental impact, where visual, full and empty are worked together with the chosen materials providing the well-being of the residents.
